Government of Pakistan has banned the screening and exhibition of Indian movies on this Eid-ul-Fitr and Eid-ul-Adha, according to our sources.

This is rather a bold move to help further the interests of local film industry, the government of Pakistan has imposed a ban on the release of Bollywood productions across the country during and around Eid. An official notice has been released by the Ministry of Information, Broadcasting, National History and Literary Heritage to the chairman of the Pakistan Film Exhibitors Association and all others involved.

Notification states that this move is aimed to promote local movies on the festivals, a time when usual than larger audience is attracted towards cinemas.

This restriction can possibly be the outcome of the previous protests held by Pakistan film makers against the excessive screening of foreign content on Pakistan’s TV channels and cinemas.
