The karachiites are continued to suffer due to prolonged outage of electricity across the city despite the federal government reiterating their claims that they eliminated the shortage of electricity.

Routine life is being hindered as power outages become much more frequent with some areas rendered without electricity at least three to four times a day and the worst part is that it will increase more when in Ramzan according to the experts.

Several areas of Karachi which were exempted from outage by the main provider of electricity to Karachi, Karachi Electric (KE), are now also facing outages. The areas facing power outages in Karachi include Gulshan-e-Iqbal , Liaquatabad , Malir, Landhi, Shah Faisal Colony and various blocks of Gulistan-e-Johar.

The residents of Karachi have expressed their rage over the unannounced load-shedding as mercury started to rise stating that K-electric is not only making them live without electricity but also charge them with higher tariffs as compared to others DISCOs.

Meanwhile, the K-electric spokesperson Sadia Dada stated that the power outages in the city are a result of the gas shortage. “The power plants have been affected by the gas shortfalls of 100mmcf,” the official said.

However, the Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC)  a government-run organization has rebuffed the power utility company’s claim by calling it, ‘misleading to their customers’.
